What is a Canuck? The dictionary defines it as "US slang for Canadians in general and French Canadians in particular ". The word Canuck is sometimes considered as an offensive slang depending on how it is used. There is an Professional Hockey Team called Vancouver Canucks, so I guess if it's offensive, they wouldn't have used it as a name of the team. In general, if you're a Canadian, you're called a Canuck.

But I digress...

I decided to set up this site as a way to help newly landed immigrants get to know more about Canada and life in Canada. I have been working as an Insurance and Mutual Fund representative since 1998 and I am amazed at how little immigrants know about Canada specially in the area of taxes and personal finance. Either they didn't bother to ask or they were given the wrong information.

My goal for this site is to clear the air and clean out all the fluff about life in Canada. The information I have here is based on my research and to the best of my knowledge. If there are some errors, feel free to comment and correct them.

I set up a blog as this is the easiest way to write than creating a website from scratch. I hope someday that these information will be published in a book. So if there are any publishers out there and want to publish my work. Send me an e-mail. ;-)

I hope this site proves to be of valuable resource to all newly landed immigrants to make life easier in their newly adopted home.
